Welcome to our website!

The Sound of My Heart Collective was initiated by a small group of women from diverse backgrounds based in Ottawa, Ontario on Unceded Algonquin Territory in May 2013. We are an independent and volunteer based initiative.
Our mandate is to carry out the Honouring Indigenous Women campaign, launched in 2011 by members of the Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement Ottawa.
This campaign focuses on publishing the productions of Indigenous women and their allies through the arts of storytelling, poetry, painting, drawing, photography, and sound. Its objective is to raise awareness about protecting and honouring Indigenous women and strives to put an end to all forms of violence. It offers a space to deepen our understanding of Indigenous women on Turtle Island (North America) and to foster strong relationships between native and non-native communities.
This is a solidarity initiative to support the existing efforts of Indigenous women towards ending violence against all women. Without action there can be no change.
